We regard A Cecil Hampshire who was a renowned author and journalist as the foremost authority we have been able to access regarding the Royal Navy Insect Class River Gunboats. The following is an article he wrote. The newspaper publication and its date are unknown but were clearly post World War II and before the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It is a concise summary of the situation these little warships found themselves in.
